What causes VPN disconnections?
VPN disconnections mainly happen for three reasons: Unstable internet, Switching between Wi-Fi and mobile data, Temporary network issues. When this occurs, your device may briefly reconnect without VPN protection.
With Kill Switch enabled, Urban VPN (mobile now, desktop coming soon) instantly blocks traffic until the VPN reconnects thus preventing IP leaks.

When does the kill switch activate?
Urban VPN’s Kill Switch activates automatically the moment you VPN connection drops. It steps in instantly to block all traffic, so your real IP won’t leak while the VPN is trying to reconnect.
When enabled, it runs quietly in the background whenever you’re connected and kicks in when needed.

No Unprotected Connections
When Urban VPN is on and the Kill Switch feature is enabled, your apps and browsers cannot connect without VPN protection. If the VPN drops for any reason, all outbound and inbound traffic is blocked until a VPN connection is restored.

Urban VPN’s Kill Switch blocks traffic if your VPN connection drops, so nothing is sent outside the VPN until the connection is restored.
What is Urban VPN’s Kill Switch, and how does it work?
Urban VPN’s Kill Switch is a built-in safety feature that prevents your real IP from being exposed if the VPN disconnects for any reason. It kicks in automatically when your internet connection drops.
Under the hood, it monitors and detects network interruptions. If an error is found, it restricts all traffic to block leaks, then restores your internet only once the VPN connection is back.
